A frosty reception

行 – row – die Reihe

One morning last week we were greeted by heavy frost and a thin layer of high lying fog, which when combined gave everything a rather colourless and eerie look. I have tried to capture this look as authentically as I could and I have to say that I am pretty happy with the result. I quite like the composition too; the tree on the rise in the centre dominates the image with its silhouette against the sky, but there is also some nice geometry here – the fence in the foreground, the saplings, trees and trellises (difficult to discern on the left) all run in parallel across the photo.

    1. Thanks Kim! On close inspection of this shot I must admit that I was a bit weirded out by the lack of clear shadows. From the positioning of the sun I was expecting long shadows to be cast, but I think the combination of the relatively evenly lit sky and reflections from the frost filled most of them in.

Darn it though, I almost managed a Kim-like-hattrick! I had planned to post this shot on Thursday, too, but got too lazy to do the post processing.

So, can I interest you in another poster? 😉
