Continuing on with our Autumn of hiking, Kathrin and I went for a ride to Lauterbrunnen and after a short cable car ride took on the easy stroll from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg. Under the beautiful blue and white September skies the famous trio of mountains looked as imposing as ever, but it wasn’t until we arrived at their feet that their immense size became truly apparent. It is a fantastic walk that doesn’t require a high level of physical fitness and can comfortably be done in just a couple of hours. I can definitely see us bringing visitors here!
These photos are stunning! I miss the alps!

Thanks a lot Mel! I’m glad you like them!
Did you previously live near the alps?
I would have thought that Iceland had a lot to offer in terms of mountain scenery. Is it so different?

Yez, I grew up in the very south of Germany, close to Switzerland and Austria. We spent a lot of weekends in the Alps, hiking and skiing 🙂
Iceland has a lot of mountains but they are very flat and in average maybe 1200m… still pretty but nothing in comparison. Also no trees 😛

That sounds like an awesome place to grow up, Mel! For someone like me who grew up near the beach, the alps provide a permanent source of adventure and inspiration. I can understand why you miss them!
I didn’t realise the mountains in Iceland were so ‘small’. They tend to look very impressive in the landscape photos I’ve seen. I’d really love to come and see the landscape for myself. Maybe I’ll manage it in the next year or two.
Best regards from the beach! 🙂

Thanks Celly! I really like using reflections from water in my photos to give them a bit more interest, though the mountains are often interesting enough by themselves. 🙂

True. Mountains and the view is sometimes all you need…but reflections really add something extra special.
